“What a relief!” says the rider after the finish. Eighth wins for Bardiani-CSF in 2018

Luca Wackermann has won today the second and hardest stage of Tour du Limousin, from Base Départementale de Rouffiac to Coteau de Grèzes, 172 km. The Italian of Bardiani-CSF has claimed the a solo success thanks to a powerful and gutsy attack in the finale.

After a tight stage, Wackermann’s attack has broken the balance at 10 km to the finish, just before the last KoM, followed by a descent and the steep final climb. Even if few riders tried to close the gap, Wackermann resisted, thanks also the role of stopper played by teammate Senni and Rota.

Wackermann has passed the finish line with 6” on Canola, Gesbert, Prades and Roux. This one, who won yesterday, shares the first postion with Luca but has kept the leader jersey thanks to the best placements. Ninth place at the finish for Rota.

“This victory is relief” said Wackermann. “After the injuries and the continuous health problems I suffered so far, I thought this season was damned. I spent last month in mountain to prepare the last part of the season and, finally, I see my efforts repaid. It’s a weight off my mind and I hope could be a turning point. My form can only grow, I want to play all the chances I’ll have at my best”.

“The decisive point today has been on the last KoM. Navarro has been the first who moved and I followed. When I understood he was giving down, I give it everything. After the descent, with 50” on the pursuers, I took heart. I managed the effort until the last km, then I forced again”.

“Of course I target the leader jersey. Roux is a tough competitor and we need, as team, to plan a strategy to win the bonuses at intermediate sprints and in the finale. I won’t leave no stone unturned”.

“I dedicate this win to my partner Ilaria and our daughter Aurora, who always supported my. Ant then, to our DS Robi Reverberi for his birthday: I hope he enjoyed the present…”.

Thanks to today’s win Wackermann finds again the feeling with the success after the nine ones took in 2016 with Team Al Nasr Dubai (stage at Tour d’Azerbaidjan, two stages and classification at Tour d’Oranie and Tour de Bilda, stage and classification at Tour d’Annaba).

For the #GreenTeam is the eighth success in the season after the stage and classification won by Maestri and Tour of Rhodes, two stages by Guardini at Tour de Langkawi, Giro dell’Appennino with Ciccone and the two stages won by Tonelli and Simion at Tour of Croatia.
