After Covili, he’s the second addition in view of new season
Bardiani-CSF has signed Francesco Romano. The Italian rider, born in 1997 in Vittoria (Ragusa), will be a pro-rider after three years in U23 category with Team Colpack (2018) and Team Palazzago (2017-2016). So far Romano is the second talent, after Luca Covili ,that the #GreenTeam will launch in professional cycling in 2019.
Bruno Reverberi, general manager Bardiani-CSF: “Romano has proved to be a solid rider and to be ready to take the next big step of his career. In U23 category he collected results and impressive performances. We’re confident that his willing to stand out, supported by our policy of development, could present us many satisfactions”.
Francesco Romano: “When you start to race, you always aim to go as high as you can. Thanks to Bardiani-CSF my dream becomes true. I’m really happy. Racing with this jersey is a great chance for my career. The taste I had of professional cycling has showed me how big is the gap with U23 category. This is why I waited to finish the cycle with Team Colpack and the right moment. Now I feel ready and conscious of the hard work I have to do to grow. This will be the biggest push in my new life”.
Eight successes are in Romano’s palmares so far in U23. In the current season he has taken three wins: stage and final classification at Vuelta a Navarra and Medaglia d’Oro Frare de Nardi. In 2017, he achieved his best result winning a stage at Giro d’Italia U23.
Romano has already tasted professional cycling with Italian Team (Coppa Agostoni in 2016 and Trofeo Laigueglia, Giro dell’Appennino, Trofeo Matteotti in 2017) and with WT Team UAE Emirates as stagiaire (Coppa Agostoni, Coppa Bernocchi, Giro dell’Emilia and GP Beghelli in 2017). He also raced U23 International events like Tour de l’Avenir, GP Priessnitz in 2017 and Liege-Bastogne-Liege in 2018.
